THE GOAL:
To enable Artistic Surfaces to meet the installation challenge of the “Pharos Dance” as designed by the architect.
THE CHALLENGE:
The traditional color pallet for cementitious terrazzo was too limiting to meet the design specified by the architect. “The Miami Performing Arts Center has been full of challenges and complications during my 12 year tenure on the project and we consider our collaboration with Artistic Surfaces to be among the most successful.”

THE RESULT:
The Carnival Center for Performing Arts. An amazing architectural space with incredible terrazzo flooring. Grand glass rooms with a floor that is literally a work of art! The exterior plaza was designed by Gary Moore. The goal was a series of abstract images based on a jazz composition called Pharos Dance by Miles Davis. An incredibly complex installation and one of the most important public outdoor areas in Miami. These images are constructed with cementitious terrazzo containing colors that are not typically found in cement based products.
